Sree Balabhadra Hanuman Swamy temple Kuruppankulangara is the family temple of Puliyamkottu Arakkal Kudumbam,Cherthala.Temple is situated about 4 kms from Cherthala town.Puliyamkottu Kudumbam is one of the most ancient and aristocratic Nair families in Cherthala Taluk. Legend has it that, the Madampy Puliamkottu Kurup was entrusted with an important and difficult task by the Maharajah of erstwhile Kochi state . Puliyamkottu Kurup very tactfully executed the mission thus relieving the Maharajah of a major headache. As a reward, the Maharajah gifted Kurup with a large extent of landed property and an Udaval . This udaval has been installed in the family temple and is still being worshipped by family members.
